CSP Activity - Labre House

Once again, the Alumni Association has volunteered to sponsor a dinner at Labre House. Labre House is a non-profit organization in Griffin Town that offers dinners to the homeless in the area. We will be hosting a bar-b-q for about 130 to 150 people. The menu will consist of hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and a dessert. We will need volunteers to help set things up, cook the food and then serve it. Time slots are below. Let me know which time slots are good for you. Naturally, you can assist at more than one. Time slots:

1) 2:00 to 2:45: bringing food in and getting bar-b-q's ready

2) 2:45 to 4pm: cooking of food and setting up tables, etc.

3) 4 to 6pm: serving of food and cleanup.

Thank you in advance for helping us out. Please contact Shag at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   and let him know when you are available. Look forward to seeing you on the 23rd.

The Annual LHSAA Summer Outing

Each year the LHSAA invites alumni from all years to gather and celebrate that wonderful time of year - summer in Montreal. Over the last eleven years, we've been to cruises, museums, restaurants/pubs and so on. This year we will be gathering on Saturday, June 16th at the McAuslan Brewery where we will have a catered dinner (including lobsters and steak) along with wine and freshly brewed beer. There is a charming room and a terrace overlooking the Lachine Canal where we will enjoy yet another gathering of the clan. We will update you with the particulars (cost and so on) by a mass email in mid-May but mark your calendars now. Invite your friends - we look forward to seeing you. Till then!

The Peter Ferguson Golf Tournament

Peter Ferguson '88 was a tremendous Loyola student/athlete who died at a young age. This tournament is held each year in July, to remember Peter, and all young graduates who were so tragically taken from us. It is open to all alumni, associates, family members, and students of Loyola. Tournament Chairmen, Kelly Burke and Bob Shaughnessy, invite you to participate and have a fun-filled day and evening. So, mark your calendars: Saturday, July 7th, 2012. Once again it will take place at the Royal and Ancient Lafleur Golf Club. The same Vegas format from previous years will be used. The emphasis is on participation not competition (although that Burke group is quick to let you know if they win). A mass email will be sent out at the end of May and updates will appear on the Alumni Website. This is a must on your social calendar!

LHSAA Oyster, Beer and Smoked Meat Evening

Mark this date on your calendars! The Alumni Social event of the year! On Friday, October the 5th, the Alumni Association will host the 15th Annual Beer Bash in the Atrium of the High School. The festivities will commence at 6pm and continue until 11pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door - the cost is $25 (this includes two smoked meat sandwiches and a beer) per person. Last year's setup was well received as there was little or no wait to acquire the necessities of life - namely beer, smoked meat and oysters. The attraction will be the opportunity to mingle with your classmates and to meet alumni from all years. This evening also ushers in Reunion Weekend when the anniversary years gather to once again terrorize the school.

There will be a silent and a live auction - if anyone is able to donate a gift for the auction (hockey tickets, golf balls, restaurant gift certificates, electronics, paintings and the like - actually, we take anything), please contact Bob Shaughnessy at 514-486-1101 ext. 268 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . He will be happy to pick up these items. All monies raised go to endowing a permanent bursary in the name of the Alumni, other charitable causes the Alumni supports, the Loyola Medal and accompanying gift at graduation and the myriad of tasks the Association is involved in. To date, we have donated over a $100,000 to this permanent bursary in the name of all Loyola Alumni. Thanks for your contributions to the auctions.

Last year, over 500 Loyolans descended upon the school and had a great time reacquainting themselves with all their buddies. We look forward to seeing you on this special night.

Reunion Years

All years ending in a two or a seven will be celebrating a special anniversary year this year. You should have received some information as to what your class is going to be doing either by post or email. If you did not receive any information, you can go to the Loyola High School website, go to Alumni, then Reunions, and all will be revealed. These events have been a lot of fun over the years and your classmates look forward to seeing you.
